Singles Box League Rules
Ladder Rules
Each ladder will consist of five or six players and at the end of every playing period there will be two players promoted, two relegated and one or two remaining in the same ladder (this is not hard and fast as new players may want to be inserted into the ladders and some players may want to leave). This means that there will be a good rotation of players every run in order to avoid players always playing the same people.
The format for these matches will be different from the previous box leagues. We will be playing 13 games and the scoring will be any of the following:
13-0
12-1
11-2
10-3
9-4
8-5
Or 7-6
By limiting the matches to 13 games it means that a match can nearly always be completed in one hour and certainly within 1 1/2 hours.
Normal tennis rules will apply but if both players agree to have sudden death deuce (either at the first or second deuce) then that will be acceptable and it will absolutely ensure that a match can be completed within 60 minutes. Should a match reach 6-6 the 13th game will be a tiebreak to 7 by two clear points
Players can join the box league by contacting Martindurrant@gmail.com or WhatsApp 07584 230098 giving a brief description of their playing standard (e.g. what team they play for, LTA rating etc.) in order to be assigned to an appropriate league.
All particpipants will be adults (a Junior Ladder is also in the planning stage) and may consist of mixed gender.
To be kept up to date with the singles box league we will have seperate whatsapp groups.
Should you have any questions around access to the ladders then contact Steve Chidlow by email on sjchidlow@btinternet.com or 07801-605-980 .
