We had a challenging start to the weekend as Luisa Cowper had to drop out last minute due to health reasons. Louise Latimer unfortunately also wasn’t available due to a family bereavement. Luckily Sara was ready to step in and save the bears on day 1 so we had a full team

Day 1 was always going to be tough as we were playing a strong Herts team.

Lucie was making her debut, but after a hard fought battle we went down 4.1

On Saturday everyone played really well and showed lots of fight. After round 1 we were 1/1 after singles. Leyla had a battle but came thru in a champs tie break. Lianne and Emma lost to an experience doubles pair. Leyla and Lucie kept up their strong partnership and pulled the tie back to 2;2. Lianne and Sara kept battling and fought really hard but lost out in a champs tie break

On the last day we were playing Surrey who hadn’t lost a match yet.

Sara stepped in for singles and Lucie had a brilliant win at 1 and we were 1;1 after round 1

We knew the doubles was going to be tough as Surrey had a lot of ex professionals on their team.

Lianne and Leyla narrowly lost in both their doubles and team Butler battled away but unfortunately it was a 4.1 defeat

Lucie had a great first season in the team and gained lots of experience. It was a tough weekend on the courts, but everyone committed and tried their best and we go again next year

Thanks to everyone who played, stepped up, and stepped in, it was a fun weekend and as always nice to in Eastbourne.
