Captains Report written by James Roe

UNDER 9’S COUNTY CUP REPORT, SATURDAY 17TH AUGUST.

BOYS: MAX EMIL KUNZE, BARNABUS ORCHARD, BENJAMIN KIRBY AND JACK SMITH.

GIRLS:T’NAE DIAMOND PAISLEY, AMALIE VIPOND, KENZA KACHLOUL AND EVIE DRAKELEY..

MATCH 1 V SHROPSHIRE.

The three boys matches were all closely contested with Ben coming from a set down to win 11-9 in the third. Both Max and Barnabus winning in two close sets.

So 3-0 up after the boys singles. All three girls matches were won in straight sets, with the T’nae, Amelie and Kenza playing some superb tennis. So the tie had been secured before the doubles

Max and Amelie won a close mixed 7-4 in the third and T’nae and Evie won in straight sets. Playing with no pressure, had loads of fun, fist pumps and high five galore!! Barnabus and Jack lost a close boys doubles in two sets

Tie won 8-1

MATCH 2 V HEREFORD AND WORCESTERSHIRE

Max won an epic three set thriller, with Barnabus loosing in three straight sets, Jack lost in two tight sets, so 2-1 down after boys singles.

T’nae won her singles comfortably (a theme that would continue!!), with Evie loosing in a close three set match after winning the first set 10-8, Amelie lost in two sets.

So 4-2 down after the singles, with the tie looking like it would go H and W way.

Decisions to make with doubles pairings!!

Both the girls and boys doubles went ahead early on and never looked back, Jack and Benj were awesome in dispatching H and W numbers one and two in straight sets, likewise Kenza and T’nae romped to victory it was all down to the mixed!

Max (my mixed doubles specialist) and Evie won a tight first set, then lost a tight second. The tie was poised at 5-5, when Max turned on the style, two clean winners. Even a high five or two (mostly from parents)

Tie won 5-4.

MATCH 3 V STAFFORDSHIRE.

After beating Hand W, we new a win here and we were champions.

Again Max won in straight sets, with Benj narrowly loosing in three, 20 shot rallies the theme of the match. Jack lost in straight sets

So 2-1 down, up stepped the girls winning all three ties in straight sets..awesome!!

4-2 up going into the doubles.

Benj and Barnabus were awesome winning in three sets, with T’nae and Amelie winning comfortably.

So tie secured before the mixed, phew!!!

Again the mixed was one in straight sets.

Warwickshire won five out of six doubles ties, so all the doubles practice certainly paid off!!

Both Max and T’nae won six out of six, however a true team performance.

So tie won 7-2 and Champions!!

All the players should be very proud, their behaviour was impeccable and effort was amazing. I think they had a lot of fun..

Thanks James Roe.
