***TENNIS VENUES SET TO RE OPEN***

Tennis is back! We got the news on Monday that outdoor tennis activity in England will be able to resume from 29 March after the Government published its roadmap for the gradual easing of lockdown restrictions confirming sports courts could reopen under Step 1 of the process.

The announcement confirmed that:

🎾 Outdoor tennis courts will be able to open from 29 March (activity subject to guidelines)

🎾 Indoor courts to remain closed until later in the roadmap (limited indoor activity to resume under Step 2 of the roadmap no earlier than 12 April - more details to follow on who for and what will be permitted)

While we all wanted restrictions to be lifted without delay and made a strong case for that, it's great that we now have a date for which you can get back on court. We know that many of you have found it tougher than ever during this lockdown, so it's a huge relief to know that tennis can resume next month.

WHAT TENNIS ACTIVITY WILL BE PERMITTED?

To help tennis venues, coaches and officials understand what the roadmap means for tennis and prepare for the return to court, we have produced a simple summary grid detailing what can happen from 29 March, as well as setting out the key relevant aspects for tennis in terms of how the roadmap will progress under each step.

SCHOOLS TENNIS

In addition, as part of the Step 1 easing of restrictions, schools tennis will be able to resume from 8 March. Venues should be aware that external facilities can be used by schools for this, and so where venues have arrangements with schools in place this can resume from 8 March.

SUPPORT FOR VENUES

Ahead of the return, we are continuing to work with Sport England to help them understand the impact on venues of lockdown restrictions, and if we can utilise the Sports Recovery Fund in some way and target those missing out on central Government support.

We also recently ran a series of Covid-19 Financial Support webinars – if you missed these then you can download the presentation and resources under the ‘Covid-19 Financial Support’ section on the page linked to below.
