Information for prospective members

Our facilities
Our Tennis Club is based at 179-181 Long Lane, Holbury, Southampton, SO45 2PA, along with Bowls, Cricket and Soccer clubs. We have four tarmac courts, two of which are floodlit for evening play in the winter.

Membership benefits
There are opportunities to play socially or competitively, and to join in coaching sessions, as well as social events. For contact details of any of the people mentioned below, see the Contacts list.

Mix in sessions are on Tuesdays and Fridays from 1.30, and on Sundays from 10am. Just turn up and play. Outside mix in session times, and subject to coaching and match court use, you are welcome to arrange your own games with other members, or to use the ball machine. A Club Calendar is available to show you when the courts are in use; see the Contacts page for details.

Each year there is a club tournament, starting in early spring, with the finals just before the summer holidays. Details are sent to all members early in the year. The club enters ladies’, mixed and men’s competitions run by Southampton LTA and Hampshire LTA. If you would like to make yourself available for any of the teams, please contact Amanda Bouchard.

Social Events
Our Social Committee organises a programme of fun tournaments, skittles, quiz, curry, games and musical evenings throughout the year.

Tickets for the Wimbledon Championships
We encourage our members to join LTA Advantage Play + (free for Club members), which offers the opportunity to participate in a ballot for tickets for the Wimbledon Tennis Championships. To join go to https://www.lta.org.uk/advantage

Management and Safety and Security
The Club is run by a Limited Company, with a financial year running from 1 January to 31 December. Day to day management is carried out by a Committee of 10, including Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Membership Secretary, Match Secretary and Safeguarding Officer. Sub-committees are formed to manage specific projects.

Our policies and codes of practice are in line with LTA standards. We are proud to have a Diversity and Inclusion Policy that demonstrates our commitment to making tennis diverse and inclusive. The commitment to diversity and inclusion upheld by the Lawn Tennis Association is fully supported by the Club’s committee.

We have a trained Safeguarding Officer and trained First Aiders. There is a readily accessible defibrillator mounted on clubhouse wall. Regular risk assessments carried out.
