Restringing

We can replace the strings in your racket at the following prices:

Stock Strings: £20 - £22. The cost is dependent upon the stock string chosen so please discuss your requirements with Wayne to make an informed choice.

Your Strings: £15. This requires you to provide your own string set (12 metres). String sets are easily available via the internet from sources such as Stringers World, Tennis Nuts or Racquet Depot UK. If you’re serious about strings, then a reel (typically 200 metres) works out considerably better value over time.

Wayne can discuss with you, based on your playing level, appropriate strings, and the tension to string the racket at.

Professional players restring their rackets constantly, sometimes even in the middle of a match at the highest level. It’s a fact that recreational players neglect this aspect of the game.

How often should you restring your racket?

Many experts say that over a year you should restring your racket the number of times you play in a week.

So, if you play four times a week then this equates to restring the racket four times a year.

Why should you restring your racket regularly?

Strings lose approx. 10% of their tension within 24 hours of restringing and this tension loss continues when you play with the racket.

If you’re a player that relies on higher tension for control and find your accuracy and feel is reducing over time, then restringing will help to regain that element of your game.

Regripping

We can supply and fit black over grips at a cost of £3. Other colours available on request

Over grips are a thin layer of grip fitted over the original racket grip and restore grip contact with the playing hand and the feel of the racket. They do not significantly increase the thickness of the grip area of the racket.

Just like the strings of the racket it’s a fact that recreational players neglect this aspect of the game. Grips become worn, shiny and slippy over time and need regular attention.

Grommets

One of the areas of tennis rackets that may require maintenance are the grommet strips and grommets in the frame.

A grommet strip is made from plastic and runs round the racket frame with thin tubes called grommets that pass through the frame from the outside to the inside. The racket strings are fed through these grommets when rackets are strung. Ensuring your strings are tight and secure is essential for best performance.

From time to time grommets and grommet strips do wear out and need replacing. Worn grommets can lead to sharp edges developing and increases the likliehood of breaking strings.

The right grommet strips and grommets for vary between racket manufactuers so please consult Wayne in advance who can source replacements, remove existing and install the replacements. The costs would be a pass on of the supplier costs and the installation charge is £5.

If you want to source your own replacements that's no problem. We will install them for you for the same installation charge of £5.
