On a wonderful late summer's day, Wellow Tennis Club held their annual Fred Hodges Tournament sponsored by Creative Images.

This tournament, named after the club's oldest past member Fred Hodges - who continued playing into his nineties - has been held for 25 years.

Twenty five members played in the American style handicap tournament with everyone playing at least three qualifying rounds.

This resulted in eight players - Cathy Tarvin, Caroline Easton, Clare Marriott, Rita Hampson, Mike Bevan, Matthew Bryce Smith, Andy Hart and Ben Wallis - going forward to the semi- finals.

The final pitched Cathy Tarvin and Andy Hart against Clare Marriott and Mike Bevan with the former triumphing 6-1 in a match where the result did not reflect the closeness of the play.

Chris Huffam of Creative Images presented the trophy and prizes to the winners at the conclusion of a very enjoyable and social afternoon.
