Our Club

We are always happy to accept new members whatever their standard. We run well attended social sessions which are held throughout the year on Thursday morning Saturday morning and Friday evening. Once a month (in the summer) the Friday night session includes a very popular BBQ. There is also a commitment to hold a regular club tournament which are very popular. No prizes but running mini leagues etc adds an extra edge to what is still a very social session. They are usually held on either a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. They are run by a member and a great effort is made to match and mix pairs so that they are as competitive as possible. These club competitions are always very popular and a good time is guaranteed. We also run a very active and popular singles ladder

If you want to stretch your tennis a little further, you couldn’t pick a better club than Wellow. Our position on the border of Hampshire and Wiltshire means we are able to play in both counties and we really stretch ourselves. There are mixed leagues, Ladies doubles, Mens doubles and Vets.  We have teams which play at a high level but there are equally teams that are more about just playing competitive tennis. It’s a different experience and you will get more chances to play at Wellow than any other club. It will test your tennis and also give you opportunities to play at other clubs and meet other tennis players.

As a member, you will also be able to use the courts at any time. Many members organise their own doubles and singles matches with other members. We are open to other suggestions as well so if you wanted to start, for example, a new “Mother’s Group” or suchlike, there are gaps in the Club Calendar so talk to a Committee member.

Tennis is a great game and it is something that you can play for most of your life. It is also one of the few games where a couple of wily 60 year olds can take on some super fit juniors and have a competitive match. Families can join and all play together on their own or all join in the social sessions together. It’s great for adults to come down, socialise or still get that buzz from playing a competitive match. We offer something for everybody.
