We hope you are all well and looking forward to returning to tennis from 29 March 2021.
As you may be aware, it was part of our WLTC business plan for 2020-2023 to set up a website. Clubspark is an online platform to help manage tennis venues and is provided free to LTA registered venues. It is used by many tennis clubs for membership management, court bookings, free website, coaching programmes and improved communication with members and club contracts. It is linked to Rally which enables the general public to find courts more easily too. Many of you with links to other clubs may already be familiar with this.
Chairman Steve has asked Jenny with Mike and Jonny to roll this out. WLTC is registered with Clubspark. The next step is for all individual members of the club to register and to do this we will be sending you all an invitation with a link to join WLTC on Clubspark.
We have been working hard behind the scenes to get ready for a return to tennis. Typically around now we would be looking to hold our AGM. It will obviously not be possible to hold one just yet although fingers crossed we will hold one in the early summer. As soon as it is feasible to hold an AGM safely, we will be back in touch with members with more details.
Two standing agenda items which we would always discuss at the AGM are the membership fees for the upcoming year and the re-election of each of the committee members, other than Steve as Chair as he holds his position for a period of 3 years. Unless there is any objections, it our proposal that the committee shall remain in place until the AGM can be held and our re-election can be held in the proper manner as fitting our constitution.
The other item is membership fees. With the disruption of play in the 2020/21 season and the support you all have held with the club for all 2020/current members the annual fee will be reduced and you should have received an email asking for payment. Those who are wishing to renew their membership can pay directly via the Club account 2021 fees are due by 1st April.
Due to the disconnect between tennis being allowed to resume and non-essential shops re-opening, we have a short-term fix in place for Court booking and key collection. Mike at Emm Gee Sports will take telephone bookings (07720 253389) and card payments but will not issue keys. Keys will be collected from and returned to the Mini Market and those who have not made a card payment can pay at the shop. Mike will provide all court booking details to the Mini Market along with confirmation if the court has been prepaid or not.
Going forward there will be more details from Jenny so look out for an email from her in the coming days. In addition, Steve will also be emailing you with more information leading up to the opening of the courts.
From Tuesday 6 April, we will resume our evening session running from 5pm – 7pm. Again more details of this will be provided shortly.
Looking forward to seeing you all back at the courts in the coming weeks.
Best wishes - WLTC Committee
