New Head Of Performance Tennis

The Directors of Widnes Tennis Club are delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Andy Watt as our new Head of Tennis Performance.

A few of the performance players at the club may know Andy, mainly those with Lancashire connections, but for those of you who don’t, Andy is a Level 5 Master Performance Coach who has worked with a large number of county, regional and national players.

He is currently the 12’s, 14’s and 18’s Lancashire coach, a role he will continue with on Wednesdays and Thursdays. He will be at WTC on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Andy is an exciting and fantastic addition to the programme and it shows the commitment and intention to continue to push the performance program at the club onwards and upwards, building on the excellent work done by Mark Hunter. With Bez, Lauren and Andy, we are extremely strong in all age groups across both Cheshire and Lancashire with Lauren being Cheshire 8&U, 9&U and 10&U Coach and Andy being Lancashire 12&U, 14&U and 18&U Coach.

Andy will serve his notice at his current club and will be joining us on the 2nd April 2024. The Directors offer a special thank you to our brilliant Head Tennis Coach, Andrew Beswick for moving so quickly in recruiting Andy so as to not have any disruption to the Performance Program and player development.  If you require any more details then please contact Andrew Beswick who will be delighted to help.

So, on behalf of all our membership, parents and players at the club, I would like to offer Andy a very warm welcome to the Widnes Tennis Club family.
