Regulations for all Senior Annual Tournament events 2023

 

Entries are online for all events

Each competitor (including doubles) must submit an entry with the correct payment.

A maximum number of competitors will be accepted on each tournament. Doubles partners can be found and any enquiries to Phil Spencer at coaching@bowdonltc.com by the 1st of July 2023

 

How many events can you enter?

Each player can enter up to 5 events maximum. Level events are aimed at 1st/2nd and 3rd Team players and Handicap events are aimed at 3rd Team players and below.

 

Availability and scheduling

  • You and your partner must be available together for the start of the specific days of the tournament and all other days for Tournament week.
  • The more events you enter the more you must be available
  • You MUST be available to play on Finals Day Saturday 15th of July
  • We will try and schedule matches taking account of your availability but if there are too many conflicts we reserve the right to “scratch” you & your partner
  • Events with large numbers may be asked to do some shorter sets to four games
  • The Plate  will run on Friday 14th July
  • You must be at the club 15 minutes before your scheduled time

 

Eligibility to events

 

  1. All EVENTS are for members

 

  1. AGE LIMIT No-one under the age of 18 on 31st August 2023 may enter the tournament unless she/he has been recognised as a Bowdon Ladies'/Men’s senior team player and only level events.

 

  1. VETERANS MEN’S   Event is for men 60 or more years of age

 

  1. CENTURY MIXED DOUBLES HANDICAP  is open to Club members (including non-playing) whose combined age is over 100 years.

 

  1. Doubles Handicap is for anyone to play

 

  1. Plate Mixed Doubles Handicap  is for those eliminated early in the tournament, Entries will be accepted from 8th of July.  No entry should be made at this stage.

 

Playing arrangements

 

  1. Scheduling of matches is as per the attached schedule and please do not enter if you can’t make the whole week including the quarter/semi finals evenings. Failing to notify the referee in advance re’ unavailability to play when required will result in you being scratched.  The Referees reserve the right to reduce the number of sets/games played in event of poor weather or other scheduling difficulties.

 

  1. Order of play will be put on clubspark.lta.org.uk/bowdonltc and in the clubhouse as early as possible on the morning of each day of play.

 

  1. Clothing and tennis shoes     Please follow LTA guidelines and wear  recognised tennis clothing (including t-shirts) and tennis shoes, not football or shirts with large logo

 

  1. Starting times and warm-up
    • You must arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled start time
    • Sign-in with the Referee
    • Collect score sheet and balls - Confirm handicap
    • 5 minutes maximum is allowed for knock up before match play starts.
    • Return completed score sheet

 

  1. Matches and referee decisions   

All Events - best of 3 sets to six games, tie break to 7 points at 6 games all, Sudden death deuce, Tie-break to 10 points if one set all.

Handicap Events  - best of 3 sets (first to 6 games).  - best of 3 sets to six games, tie break to 7 points at 6 games all, Sudden death deuce, Tie-break to 10 points if one set all.

 

The Referees may vary this (e.g. shortening sets) if poor weather etc are creating scheduling issues.  Their decisions in this and in all tournament matters is final.

 

  1. CUPS          Winners’ cups of any previous tournaments must be returned to the club by 25th June 2023.

 

  1. VISITORS Up to two relatives and/or friends of members are invited to come along and watch the play.

 

  1. CATERING Tea and biscuits will be served on Sat/Sun afternoons.  Suppers will be available on various nights

  1. PARKING on the Club's car park or road at Green Walk, WA14 2SN. Do not park in Elcho Road. 

 

  1. RESTRICTION ON PLAYING No play is allowed on grass courts during the Tournament week, other than in Tournament events.

 

  1. Grass and all-weather surfaces will be used depending on weather and availability
