In what was a very entertaining match from the very first point, Katy and Olivier mounted a stunning second set turnaround to defeat Jannette and Charlie in straight sets (6-2; 7-6).
After what looked like a routine 1st set, where their power seems to be too much for their opponents, Katy & Olivier found themselves 5-2 down in the second...
Facing the daunting prospect of a Championship tiebreak against a resurgent pair that raised their level to grab the momentum, they somehow broke back to force a tiebreak.
In the end, they had a little too much for Jannette and Charlie and went on to win the breaker to secure the title.

It looks like this one was a topsy-turvy affaire in the first 2 sets (3-6; 6-1) and it was settled on a championship tiebreak that Christine & Kev went on tom win! Georgie & Dave pushed one of the bookies’ favourite all the way and Georgie is quite pleased with that: “Dave and I chuffed to win the first set and even break Kev's serve at least a couple of times!!”

Katy and Olivier powered their way through Judy and Manoj in straight sets (6-1; 6-2) to book their place in the Semis. They did not say much after the game, but for what I saw, they’ll take some stopping…
*Quarter-Final 4 = [Paula Terry & Ivan Mazepa] def. [Leslie Dicken & James Palmer]
The first Quarter-Final to be played saw Paula and Ivan defeat Leslie and James 6-2; 6-4 in what Ivan described as “… a nice, pleasant evening despite rainy forecast…”.
Round 1 Matches
*Round 1/Match A = [Nicola Barnard & Paul Duggan] def. [Malcolm Stubbs & Anjali Santhakumar]
“It was a close fought match frequently interrupted by heavy rain showers” according to Paul. Not much in it (6-4; 6-3) it looks like… Hope the weather will be better for your next match.
*Round 1/Match B = [Paula Terry & Ivan Mazepa] def. [Jerzy Basiurski & Susan Binks]
Paula and Ivan made it through in straight sets in what can only be described as scorching conditions. The match was played at 2pm in one of the hottest days of the year… the report shared by Ivan says it all: “Everyone struggled but survived temperature of over 32 degrees.”
*Round 1/Match C = [Judy Taylor & Manoj Kumar] def. [Val Brisdon & Richard Ratcliff]
In what seems to have been an amazing tussle, Judy and Manoj battled their way through to the Quarters with a super tight 6-7; 7-5; 10-3 win!
