NPL Tennis re-opening soon

Game on - soon!

NPL Tennis coursts are closed at the moment but we're hoping to re-open in the next couple of days when we get permission from the Royal Parks.

Read updated details of our reduced membership fees and joining information . A huge thank you to all members who supported the Sports Club by paying £35 in advance of subscription renewals.

The new normal

When the tennis courts are open the tennis clubhouse will remain locked while the Sports Club changing rooms and bar will also be closed. There will be  no toilet nor washing facilities available.  Please bring your own hand sanitiser and wipes. The First Aid box will be left on the table outside the tennis clubhouse door.

All players must follow LTA guidance and the new rules below.

If it is felt at any time that members safety is being compromised then the courts will be locked shut again.

IMPORTANT: Do not leave your home to play tennis if Government advice means you should stay at home because you or someone you live with has or has had symptoms of COVID-19, or you are in the most vulnerable category and have been advised to shield from the coronavirus.

Book a court online

Book a court online, using: https://npltennis.skedda.com/booking (follow the simple instructions)

You must book in advance, you can't just turn up and play.

Only NPL Tennis members can play. No guests allowed - sorry.

To ensure that as many members as possible can play, you can only book:

  • One x 60 minute slot each day
  • Up to 7 hours each week
  • 14 days in advance

Arriving and leaving

Only tennis players who have booked a court should be present at the tennis courts.
Arrive as close as possible to when you need to be there (no more than 10 minutes early)
Avoid touching court gates, fences, benches, etc. if you can.   Do not close the gates using the slide bar, just push gates closed with your foot.
Allow others to leave before you enter the court - if you need to wait then do so away from the courts and clear of the gates, observing social distancing at all times.
Enter the hard courts via GRASS courts gate on the far side of the hard courts
Leave from the gate in front of the white changing rooms.  (The other gate will remain locked)
Ensure you leave the court at the end of your allotted time so that it is empty for the next players, and then leave the Sports Club.

Equipment

Take all your own equipment (do not share equipment such as rackets, grips, hats and towels)
Bring your own tennis balls that are clearly marked (e.g. with your initials).  You may only serve and handle your own balls. Use a racket to return other players’ balls'
Only take the minimum amount of equipment with you that you need to play
Clean and wipe down your equipment, including racquets and water bottles before and after use
Bring a full water bottle, and do not share food or drink with others
Ensure you take all your belongings with you at the end of the session, do not leave anything on court
The nets will be set at the correct height and winders removed.

Court limits

Maximum of two people per court (singles play only). Players can be from different households.
The only exception to the above is where a group of four players are all from the same household in which case they can play doubles.

Maintain social distancing

Stay at least two metres away from other players at all times (including during play, when taking breaks and before and after play)
Do not make physical contact with other players (such as shaking hands or high five)
Stay on your side of court and avoid changing ends, or agree to change ends at opposite sides of the net
Avoid chasing the ball down to another court if other players are using it
