Mike is a Learning Developer specialising in curriculum support at Cardiff Metropolitan University. Mike completed his PhD in Sports Coaching in 2024, with a particular interest in the pedagogical and sociological foundations of coaching. A student at the university since 2009, Mike also holds BSc (Hons) Sport Coaching and MSc Sport Performance Analysis degrees and has been a part of Cardiff Met Tennis’ staff for over a decade.​

Mike is a Level 4 LTA Senior Performance Coach, Accredited+ and has coached at Cardiff Met University with the BUCS teams and Tennis Academies since joining the University in 2009.​

Mike’s area of expertise lies in pedagogy and coach education and is qualified to Co-Tutor the LTA's coach education courses. Mike is a Qualified Coach Developer, delivering a supportive and challenging learning environment for coaches of several sports. Mike currently works with coaches of Cardiff Met Tennis, Cardiff Rugby.  Mike continues to develop comprehensive and cutting-edge development opportunities for coaches locally and nationally, whilst also helping to align the School’s academic philosophies to the delivery of the LTA Youth and community programme on court.
