Located in a quiet residential area in Birkdale, Southport our club has 2 floodlit artificial clay and 2 natural shale courts and a licensed clubhouse that is large enough to host functions.  We have been in existance for over 120 years and have always prided ourselves on being an inclusive and family friendly club with plenty of social events.

Membership

We are always looking for new members of all ages and skill levels. Whether you are looking for competitive team Tennis, coaching or attending our socials, our memberships provides all of those options.

Clubhouse

We often have social events in our clubhouse throughout the year. They include team socials and themed nights.

Teams

We have 4 teams in the Southport league competing in divisions 3, 5 and 8.

Home matchnights during the Summer League (Apri-Jul) are Monday and Tuesday from either 6.30pm or 7pm.

Home matchnights during the Autumn League (Sep-Nov) are currently Saturday's from 11am.

Juniors

We have 1 under 12's team in the Southport league. Home matchdays will be Saturday from 9am.

Social

Our club nights take place every Friday from 6pm. We also have a number of social events each month during the season consisting of tournaments, BBQ's, live music, quiz nights or just regular social Tennis.

Court Etiquette

As we play on artificial clay and natural shale courts, we require members to wear shoes with non-rigid outsoles. As well as preventing damage to the courts, this helps keep clay or shale out of your outsole so you can better grip the court when sprinting, stopping or changing directions.

If some clay or shale does gather, a couple of taps on the shoe with your racquet between points should knock it loose.

Also once you have finished playing, you will need to either brush or mat the court with the drag equipment provided. This is done to help redistribute the loose top dressing and smooths it out after play.

Coaching

We have recently introduced a new head coach, Natalie Wall. Natalie is an LTA Level 3 coach, brings a wealth of experience and will be leading our adult coaching sessions.

Her coaching services provide cardio Tennis, beginner & rusty rackets classes, intermediate and advanced drills and private 1:1 lessons.

We also run junior sessions for various ages and abilities on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays.

In accordance with the LTA's safeguarding policy, accompanying parents MUST be attendance during the sessions.

All junior sessions will be run by our LTA Coach, Shane Hutton.

LTA

Once you have become a member, you are also entitled to be a member of the LTA (Lawn Tennis Association). To become a member, click on the following link - Register for Advantage (lta.org.uk). It's free to join, takes no more than 5 minutes to register, make sure the club you affiliate with is Carlton (instructions) and that you activate your World Tennis Number (instructions).

It includes many discounts and benefits including a the chance to buy Wimbledon tickets.
