Club History
The club has a long history, being founded in 1884, where it has been in continuous existance to the present day. In the 1980's the club members provided funding & labour to build the present clubhouse. During this period the club was able to purchase land to establish further courts. We are a small, not-for-profit, friendly club not run on the lines of a large franchise. We currently have five artificial grass floodlit courts which require considerable maintenance and which have a limited lifespan.
The club is governed by Trustees but administered on a daily basis by a committee of volunteers. We have affiliation to The Lawn Tennis Association but receive no funding grants from this body or any other source. The club is solely financed by membership subscription & support from the provision of the clubhouse bar.
Membership period is now from 1st of March annually for a twelve month period, details below are for the 24/25 season :-
