Our Mixed Generation Tournament on Saturday 28th February was a fantastic success and a brilliant day for everyone involved. We were delighted to welcome 13 families to Congresbury Tennis Club for a fun parent-and-player doubles event, with players enjoying a fantastic afternoon of tennis in the sunshine.
The atmosphere throughout the day was amazing. It was wonderful to see so many families out on court together, supporting one another and enjoying the occasion. We were also thrilled to have families travel from Bristol to join in, which made the event feel even more special.
What made the day such a success was not just the number of players involved, but the quality of the tennis and the enthusiasm shown by all of the children. The matches were really close, with every round full of great rallies, teamwork and plenty of competitive spirit. As the tournament progressed, the children began to develop a stronger understanding of the rules, and we were able to build on this by progressing the rules slightly during each round. This made it a fantastic introduction to competition for all of the Congresbury players, helping them to learn in a fun, supportive and encouraging environment.
One of the most pleasing parts of the day was the excellent sportsmanship shown by all of the children. Their attitude on court was so positive and respectful that it really made us appreciate being out there with them. Seeing the players compete fairly, encourage one another and enjoy the challenge was a real highlight for everyone watching.
The final was closely contested, with both pairs giving their all, but in the end we did have our winners. Both the winners and runners-up received medals, and every player was presented with a certificate to recognise their participation and effort.
A huge thank you to everyone who came along and made the event such a memorable one. We are already looking forward to the next Mixed Generation Tournament, which will take place on Saturday 6th June, with Under 9s from 1:30–3:00pm and the 10+ age group from 3:00–5:00pm.
