You would think it madness to organise an outdoor tennis event in the middle of October but the weather angels outshone themselves as we were treated to a day of sunshine and warm 20 degree temperatures. We like to think Louise was watching from the beyond…..
16 pairs of ladies competed in a “compass” draw format so everyone played four rounds of matches. Derek Perry was at the helm and Sharon & Bonnie held the fort at the bar.
The forward draw was won by Cringleford pair, Alison Gilmour & Lea Denley who were presented the with LWMT Shield. Sally Hardwick (also Cringleford) & Sarah Walker (EATSC) were the runners-up. The backward draw was won by EATSC pair, Anne Garden & Cathy Devlin. All were presented with beautiful orchids, Louise’s favourite plant, supplied by Niche Flowers.
A delicious lunch was prepared and served by Sharon. The ever-popular raffle raised £350 for Tennis-Able, Derek’s non-profit enterprise which provides free tennis coaching to the disabled and disadvantaged. https://www.tennisable.co.uk
