Keith Hosking's London Marathon for MNDa and Gary Curtis

Keith Hosking, former Chairman of our club, is running the London Marathon next weekend and is helping to raise funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.  Below is an email from Keith and information about his friend Gary Curtis who suffers with MND.  I hope that you will be able to support Keith through his JustGiving page.

"Some of you may already be aware that I am running the London Marathon on Sunday 23 April and I have chosen to raise funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

My friend Gary Curtis recently told us that he was diagnosed with this illness last year and that the symptoms are already impacting his life.

Any support that you can give to help fund the research into finding a cure and also help sufferers like Gary to manage day to day would be gratefully received.

Please see Gary's story below.

If you can, please donate to my JustGiving page by clicking here http://www.justgiving.com/Keith-Hosking1 and feel free to forward this to anyone that you think may want to help.

Thank you in advance,

Keith Hosking

This is Gary's story,

Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a fatal debilitating disease that devastates the lives of those living with it, as well as the loved ones caring for them. I bear witness to this as I was unfortunate enough to be diagnosed with MND last year so have first-hand experience of the distressing life changing affects that accompany this rare, but brutal, disease.

The MND Association provides aid to suffers like me to help with their day-to-day hardships. Thanks to donations, to-date, I have been able to benefit from their support grant scheme to assist with the installation of hand rails to ease access to my property as well as provision of a lightweight wheelchair through their Quality Of Life grant to aid my mobility. And as my symptoms worsen with time, I will be relying more and more on their support.

It is with eternal thanks to people like Keith for raising funds for, and awareness of, the MNDA, so that they are able to help sufferers like me through unpleasant and frightening times. I am very aware that times are hard during this cost-of-living crisis, but any donations would be hugely appreciated.

Kind regards

Gary Curtis"
