SOCIAL EVENTS (Entry to events and tournaments is free of charge for Members)

Season Opener Tournament - Sunday 27th April 2025 / 1pm

The Season Opener is often the first opportunity for members to play social tennis again if they have not been playing in the Sunday morning or Wednesday night groups over the winter. It is aimed at members of all abilities and uses a round‑robin format designed to get everyone playing together. It is usually a mixed‑doubles, rotating‑partners format. Players sign up individually and are randomly paired each round and then, after a timed interval (e.g. 15–20 minutes), rotate partners and opponents. You accumulate total games won across all rounds (rather than “matches won”), and the player(s) with the highest game‑win totals take the prizes. This makes the event fun and inclusive—everybody meets and plays with everybody else, regardless of skill level. Snacks and refreshments provided. 

American Tournament - Sunday 25th May 2025 / 1pm

This tournament is set up in a similar way to the Season Opener above.

Tournament Finals Day (Singles & Doubles) - Sunday 29th June 2025 / 12pm

This tournament is for adult members of all levels of ability. It features all the usual formats: men’s singles; men’s doubles; ladies’ singles; ladies’ doubles; mixed doubles. Depending on the number of entrants for each format, a draw is made for each format and the individual matches are played over several weeks leading up to finals day on 29 June. Snacks and refreshments provided. Simon Nickols is the tournament organiser and will be in touch with members soon to invite entries.

Pimms Evening - Thursday 17th July 2025 / 6pm

The format of the evening is similar to the Season Opener above. Snacks and refreshments are provided including, of course, the signature Pimms refreshment.

Mince Pie & Mulled Wine Tournament - Sunday 7th December 2025 / 12pm

The format of the evening is similar to the Season Opener above. Snacks and refreshments are provided including, of course, mince pies and mulled wine.
