Welcome Padel to Formby Lawn Tennis Club – Grand Opening 13 July

Formby Lawn Tennis Club is excited to announce the launch of our brand-new padel court, opening officially on Sunday 13 July during our Open Day celebration. As padel continues its nationwide surge with it now being the UK’s fastest-growing racket sport with over 400,000 players across nearly 900 courts in 300 venues. We’re thrilled to add this vibrant, social, and accessible game to our club’s offering.

Padel blends the quick rallies of tennis with the strategic wall-play of squash, all on a smaller, doubles-only court. Its compact design makes it easy to learn and ideal for forming local groups, perfect for families, friends, and fitness enthusiasts alike. The LTA reports that padel in Britain has seen court numbers grow by 300% year-on-year, testament to its appeal as a dynamic, inclusive sport that complements tennis rather than replacing it.
