20th anniversary celebration
Just to remind you that we are celebrating the club's 20th anniversary with a round robin tournament and a special tea at the Lake Lane courts on Sunday 22 September. Former chairs and founding/early members have also been invited to mark this special occasion. The tournament begins at 2 PM and tea will be served at 4 PM. Thanks to every member so far who has registered to take part. The cost is £5 per head (£3 for juniors) to participate and that includes an extra special tea. Please feel free to bring your own booze (free tea and coffee will be available). Either pay on the day or in advance via BACS to the club account (Sort Code 30-98 -29 Account No 03978086 - mark payment as 'Round Robin').
And our celebrations will continue with an Autumn quiz ..
We are hosting a fun quiz at the Cadbury Hall on Friday 15 November. The event begins at 7 PM and the entry fee will be £8 per person to include a delicious Frocester Fayre pasty. Drinks will be available at the bar. Teams of 4-6 people are the norm and we will be happy to assign any singletons to a team on the night if they are not spoken for. I must stress that this is not just a tennis club members' event and we would be delighted to welcome anyone who cares to come along. To register for the quiz please contact rbmcnally1@gmail.com, specifying the number of people in your party and the type of pasties required (meat or veggie).
More success for our champion!
Charlie Denton has won umpteen National Deaf Championship honours at youth level and he is now racking up achievements at the senior level. He has just won his fifth consecutive National Junior Singles title at the National Deaf Tennis Championships in London. He also won in the Junior doubles and finished runner up in the Men’s doubles. Additionally, in June, he competed for Great Britain at the 15th European Deaf Tennis Championships in Villach, Austria and was a runner up in the boys' doubles bronze medal play-off. More details to add to his honours board in the clubhouse!

A Shedload of thanks..
..to Keith Spalding who recently assembled the new storage shed for Ben's gear. Other people who merit our thanks over the last few months are Tim Tyler, Chris Tasker and Chris McBride (grass cutting and strimming), Mike Williams and his son who installed the new LED lights and are in the process of obtaining sufficient brightness. Also a mention for James Massey who played a major role in our Young Lives v Cancer charity marathon on 11 August (the hottest day of the year!) and did a seven hour stint with hardly a break. Thanks again to everyone who participated in that same event which raised almost £400. If I have forgotten to mention anyone - many apologies.
Easy Fund Raising App
Subscribers to our Facebook page will be aware that this app (approved by LTA) provides a means of raising money for the club at absolutely NO cost to ourselves. It's super easy to set up with access to thousands of stores to choose from, including John Lewis, M&S, Tesco, Argos, H&M, Currys, House of Fraser, and JD Sports. Just make your purchases through the app and nominate the tennis club as a beneficiary - it's as simple as that. Thanks to everyone who has already signed up so far. For details see the relevant website.
Any spare BBQs out there?
The tennis club BBQ is on its last legs after many years of sterling service and we are looking for a replacement. If anyone has a used one in good condition we would be very keen to find out more. Please contact rbmcnally1@gmail.com.
What a load of rubbish!
Can I remind everyone to please take rubbish home with you from the tennis club whenever possible. We have a recycling bin, principally for used tennis ball tubes, but committee members have recently been taking far too much leftover waste back to their homes for disposal.
