Wimbledon is on the horizon!

We're fast approaching the time of year where tennis takes centre stage in the sporting calendar for a couple of weeks.  This time around we will be showing the men's final live in our Lake Lane clubhouse on Sunday 14 July to coincide with our Finals Day.  The qualifying games leading up to our finals will be underway very soon and it would be great if as many people as possible could come down on 14th to support our main event.  Feel free to bring your friends and neighbours to make the day extra special.  Aside from hosting top notch live games, we will also be welcoming a pop-up tennis shop, and there will be the usual barbeque and refreshments stall.

Summer tennis camp for children

Ben Hardwick's summer tennis camp sessions will take place over a four week period from the week commencing Monday 29 July. Ben is offering coaching sessions for children (ages 4-16 years)  from 10 AM to 2 PM on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday each week at a cost of only £25 per day or £80 for four sessions) plus an extra 20% discount for siblings. Those attending Ben's Easter holiday sessions thought that they were great fun and parents were delighted that the cost did not break the bank.  To book now, or find out more, please go to https://clubspark.lta.org.uk/BenjaminHardwickCoaching/Coaching/Camps. Alternatively, you can call Ben on 07807 427586

New walking tennis opportunity

Ben has recently launched walking tennis sessions on Friday mornings from 9:30-10:30am. This is aimed towards people who love tennis but, for whatever reason, aren't quite as agile as they once were but still want to experience the thrill of hitting a good quality ball. Ben will be on hand to advise on the rules and help improve skills. The hourly rate is £7 for members and £9 for non-members. To tie in with this initiative, we have introduced a special walking tennis/off-court social membership scheme which will save £2 per session and will also provide access to all club communications and Whatsapp groups. See our website for details https://clubspark.lta.org.uk/framptononseverntennisclub/Membership/Join

20th anniversary celebrations

We are still working towards staging a commemorative family fun day in late September to mark the twentieth anniversary of the club, and we will be inviting founding members as our guests of honour.  The  whole community will be welcome.  We have postponed a planned 20th anniversary Summer Quiz because we felt it was better suited to the Autumn, and we're also keen to host a dinner event - watch this space!

Round Robin Tournament - Sunday 2 June

Thanks to everyone who attended the event on 5 May - we managed to avoid an evil storm that was threatening to wreak havoc all afternoon. This time around we are starting at 1030 AM on 2 June.  I will be organising it but might not be around on the day so it would be very welcome if someone would step forward and do the honours.  Anyone interested in playing should contact rbmcnally1@gmail.com - you will recall that we need 12 players to make this extra special.  Entry fee is £5 to include refreshments.

Thank you Andrea!

Our outgoing honorary treasurer Andrea Welby has done an excellent job for many years and she was recently presented with vouchers for her local pub, The Red Lion in Arlingham, in recognition of her wonderful contribution to the club. Aside from managing our funds, Andrea also did loads of work behind the scenes, including the provision of catering and refreshments and organisation of Christmas meals.  Fortunately, she is still a very supportive member of the club and continues to enjoy playing regularly.

Hope to see you all on court soon!

Bob McNally, Chair
