WHAT A GREAT BRITISH TENNIS WEEKEND AT GREAT MASSINGHAM!

Great Massingham Tennis Club hosted its third Great British Tennis Weekend on 14th/15th May, with an Open Day on Saturday and a Mixed Double's Tournament on Sunday.  As part of a nationwide event organised by the LTA, it gave everyone, young or old, rookie or experienced player, the chance to play tennis for FREE!  Over 50 children took part in the morning's coaching sessions led by Ashley Keegan and ably assisted by our own budding youngster, Luca.  In the afternoon coaches James and Toby ran a 'taster' cardio session to funky music which proved very popular, followed by a lesson in trick-shots, including the Roger Federer style 'hotdog!'  The poor coaches were then put under pressure with people queuing up to try to take points off them!  Although some points were conceded by James and Toby, they remained the 'champions!'

Throughout the day there was the opportunity to test your speed of serve and use a ball machine, play mini-tennis and enjoy a real hotdog from the barbie, plus there was a selection of delicious cakes - combining the Great British Bake Off with the Great British Tennis Weekend!

This 'Great' weekend wouldn't have been possible without help from many people.  Thanks to the Dream Team Task Force of Alan, Bob and Bruce, the Barbie Team of Michael, Rob, Bob and John, thanks to Hugh for the use of his court for the tournament and to Barrie for the ball machine and to all those who mucked in to help!
