About Hythe LTC
Established in 1889, Hythe Lawn Tennis Club (HLTC) is a friendly, inclusive community tennis club set in a beautiful location alongside the Royal Military Canal in Hythe, Kent. For over 125 years, we have been at the heart of local sport, offering both social and competitive tennis to players of all ages and abilities.
We are proud to be a family-friendly club where everyone—from complete beginners to experienced players—can enjoy the game in a supportive and welcoming environment.
Our Club
HLTC is a non-profit Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), run by members for members. We are committed to making tennis accessible, enjoyable, and affordable for the whole community.
Our excellent facilities include:
- 8 floodlit all-weather courts (4 hard and 4 artificial grass)
- Pickleball courts
- Practice fence and Slinger ball machine (Slinger Hire: April–September Only)
- Clubhouse with kitchen, changing rooms, and meeting space
- Wi-Fi and terrace area
- Wheelchair access
- Free on-site parking
Membership
We offer a range of membership options designed to suit different ages and levels of play.
As part of our commitment to accessibility:
- All Junior Mini memberships (ages 4–10) are fully funded by the club
- Junior bursaries (ages 11–17) are available to support young players
Our growing membership currently includes over 400 adults and nearly 300 juniors, creating a vibrant and active club community.
Coaching & Playing Opportunities
Whether you're picking up a racket for the first time or looking to improve your game, we provide a wide range of coaching and playing opportunities.
For Juniors (ages 4–17):
- Group and individual coaching
- Competitions and local tournaments
- School holiday clubs
For Adults:
- Group and individual coaching (beginner to advanced)
- Weekly Ladies’ sessions
- Drills & Doubles coaching
Members can also enjoy:
- Weekly social mix-in sessions (Tennis, Walking Tennis, Pickleball)
- Club team matches
- Singles box leagues
- Fun doubles tournaments
- Annual club events and championships
Community Focus
We are passionate about giving back to our local community. The club works closely with local organisations to make tennis accessible to all, including:
- Walking Tennis sessions supporting the Hythe Dementia Forum
- Bespoke coaching programmes for Mencap groups
Each year, we actively invest in junior development, helping young players access the sport and grow their confidence on and off the court.
Our Future
With continued support from organisations such as the LTA, Sport England, and Kent County Council, we have significantly enhanced our facilities in recent years. We remain committed to developing the club for future generations while preserving the welcoming spirit that has defined HLTC for over a century.
