Tournaments

We run a year-round series of Leeds tennis tournaments, offering singles, doubles and team events - each with its own style and atmosphere:

  • Season Opener – a friendly singles event to kick off the season
  • The Open – our flagship singles tournament
  • Parity Cup – a handicapped singles competition
  • Doubles Showdown – a dedicated doubles event
  • World Championship – a team tournament featuring doubles and singles, with teams representing Africa, Asia, Europe, GB and South America
  • The Finals – the top eight players in the Ladder face off at the end of the season

All our tournaments use short‑format matches so players enjoy plenty of games against a mix of opponents. Formats vary, but most events include a group stage followed by a knockout phase, meaning everyone is guaranteed multiple matches.

Tennis Tuesdays

Thanks to our special arrangement with Leeds City Council for court usage, we host a weekly Tuesday social tennis session at HOLLIES or WOODHOUSE (6–8pm) throughout the main season. It’s relaxed, fun, mixed round‑robin doubles — perfect for meeting players of all levels and becoming part of the Leeds tennis community.

The Ladder

All members are automatically added to the LLTC Singles Ladder and the main WhatsApp group, where you can arrange matches with anyone. The Ladder uses an Elo rating system, allowing players to challenge freely and gain (or lose) points based on expected vs actual performance — so everyone has a fair chance to climb.

Box Leagues

We run separate men’s and women’s Box Leagues, with divisions of around five to eight players. Each round lasts roughly six weeks, giving you plenty of match play without pressure or long‑term commitment.

We also run a longer Winter Box League (Nov–Feb) to help players stay match‑sharp. Results feed into your WTN rating, giving meaningful progression for those wanting to develop.

Club Teams

Leeds Legends compete against clubs across the city in the Leeds Tennis League throughout summer, fielding both men's and mixed doubles teams, as well as the end‑of‑summer/autumn Leeds Slam, where mixed teams play in men’s and mixed doubles along with men’s and women’s singles rubbers.

In our first competitive season (2025), we made an immediate impact:

Men’s A Team: Promoted to Division 7 as Division 8 champions

Holliwood Team (Hollies & Meanwood): Leeds Slam champions

Whether you’re an experienced competitor or stepping up from social tennis, we welcome all players looking to join a growing, ambitious tennis club in Leeds.

LTA Wimbledon Ballot Access

You’ll receive upgraded Play+ Advantage Membership, unlocking entry to the LTA’s exclusive Wimbledon Ballot and priority ticket windows, giving you the chance to experience the biggest moments in British tennis up close.

A Community Club with Big Benefits — Without the Big Prices
