On Saturday 30th June 2018 the rescheduled Marion Oliver took place and in a total reverse of the last attempt which was abandoned due to heavy rain, the sun shone throughout & temperatures soared.
14 players braved the heat to play 6 rounds of very close tennis. The outright winners with 22 points were Karin Lambert & Hilary Marsh and they were awarded the trophies & a bottle of wine each. There was a tie for 2nd place with Nigel Matthews & partner Christine Knight & David Freeman & Jan Butchers finishing with 17 points each. In an exciting 1 game decider it went literally to the wire as Jan & David won on a sudden death deuce point with a ball that hit the net top & dribbled over. They won a box of biscuits each.
Well done to all players - a great afternoons' tennis
Christine Knight
