Other Leagues
Alongside our main league teams, we also enjoy taking part in a variety of other competitions throughout the year.
During July and August, we enter mixed teams into the East Lothian Summer League, which is always a fun and sociable way to play competitive tennis over the summer months.
We also field both ladies’ and men’s teams in the East of Scotland Vets leagues, giving players the chance to compete in a supportive, friendly environment.
And in September, we take part in the SuperVets mixed league, open to players aged 60+ for men and 55+ for ladies. These matches are played on Wednesday mornings and are a great way to enjoy competitive tennis with a relaxed, welcoming feel.
Team Selection at MTC
Our aim is always to field the strongest available team for each competitive match. Selection is managed by the Team Captains and is based on the following:
- Players must be current MTC members
- Willingness and availability to play
- Previous and current playing level, experience, and results
- The level at which a player has previously competed in East of Scotland leagues
- Attendance and development at match practice and squad sessions
- The Team Captain’s assessment of a player’s abilities
- Commitment to being part of MTC’s competitive teams
- Adherence to the Team Code of Conduct
- A general expectation that team players also take part in club events
