Frequently Asked Questions

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How many courts am I allowed to book?

Each member can make up to 5 one-hour court bookings in any 7-day period. Bookings can be made up to 14 days in advance. If you find that you cannot play as planned, it is appreciated if you can cancel your booking so that the court is made available to someone else.

Can I bring a guest to the courts?

Yes, if you want to play with someone who is not a member you can invite them to the courts. When you are making your booking through the website (www.newportpagnelltennis.net) on the booking sheet please click on the +Add Participants option at the bottom-left of the booking form. This will take you to another page where you need to add their name. A fee of £3 is charged for each guest for an hour’s booking. This needs to be paid by credit card at the time of booking.

If you subsequently need to cancel your guest booking, you will receive a refund provided that you cancel at least 24 hours before the time of your booking slot.

Are there Social Tennis sessions when I can meet other members?

We hold two Social Tennis sessions a week for adult players (and juniors who play at yellow ball level), when everyone is welcome to come and play, whatever their level. We ensure that everyone mixes and so you will have the chance to meet and play with a wide variety of people. The emphasis on these sessions is to have some fun and exercise. They are held on Wednesday evenings from 6 to 8pm and Sunday mornings from 10 to 12am.

There is also a Vets Social Tennis session on Fridays for Ladies over 40 and Men over 45. This takes place from 10.30am to 12.30 pm.

What about for Juniors?

Newport Pagnell is a great place for juniors to learn to play tennis with loads of activities for all. There are plenty of group coaching sessions with Gavin Fowell throughout the week for Juniors of all ages and all abilities. During the holidays we run the very popular Holiday Camps. The emphasis is always on having fun and for the youngsters to enjoy themselves. There are also tournaments and leagues throughout the year for those Juniors who want to take part in match play.

Junior Club Nights are expected to re-start once all restrictions on numbers due to Coronavirius have been removed. These sessions are run every Friday night and are FREE to members.

I want to play some competitive matches. How can I get on to a Team?

We always want to hear from members who want to play competitive tennis. Please contact Trevor Hill on 07970 798341 or email: trevor.hill@ppn.co.uk who will direct you to the relevant team captain.

I have to play in the evening. How do the floodlights work?

There is no charge for operating the floodlights but you do need to have access to the Clubhouse to turn them on and then off again. You need to pay a £7 deposit for a key to the Clubhouse. Please contact Janet Adams on nptckeys@gmail.com for details.

Does the code on the entry gate padlock ever change?

Yes, the code is changed from time to time! An email is sent to all registered members (main contacts for junior members) when the code changes, so please make sure you open all the emails we send and make a note of the code or you may be locked out!

How can I find out what is going on at the Club?

We produce a Newsletter which is emailed to members (or the Main Contact for Juniors) every month or so. This includes lots of news and information about events and updates.

In between, if there is important information to convey, emails are sent to all members (or Main Contacts for Juniors). We also post updates and photographs on our Facebook page.

Why don’t I don’t get any emails from you?

The most common reason is that you are not registered. This is very easy to put right – on the NPTC homepage choose Register in the top right-hand corner and fill in the information required.

I think I need some coaching

There a range of group coaching sessions held at the Club every week, for both adults and juniors. If you are interested in joining one of these groups, then please contact Nigel Willard (nigel@nigelwillardtennis.co.uk) for times and prices. Alternatively, you can elect to have an individual training session with Gavin Fowell. You will often see him coaching on the courts or ring him on 07951 516411. And as a member of Newport Pagnell Tennis Club, you get 10% of the normal price for all tennis coaching, whether group or individual sessions.
