Junior Management Committee 2023/24

The county’s Junior Management Committee (JMC) run all aspects of junior county badminton within Oxfordshire.

We are a group of dedicated volunteers who work with the county coaches to ensure the player experience and environment are as positive and beneficial as possible.

We are all parents of children within the county setup and many of us are also badminton players.

Aspects of what we deal with include:

• Managing and developing the squad structure including player movements between squads.
• Selection policy for the Shires League and Inter-County Tournaments (ICT)
• Organising tournaments and arranging county match fixtures
• Booking courts and arranging team kit
• Communicationwith parents and players
• A lot of admin!
• Activities to recruit more players
• Some of us are Team Managers and organise Shires League teams

Bios

David Soanes (Chairman)

Hi, I am David Soanes and in my first season being Chair of the Oxfordshire JMC. I have been involved in Oxfordshire badminton since I was 11 years old – you could say Oxfordshire badminton runs through my veins! I have been fortunate enough to have played junior badminton (including going to ICT), senior badminton and looking forward to masters badminton this year. My two children Ethan and Martha both play in county squads and are really enjoying the experience. I am incredibly proud of the county setup, both our fantastic players and coaches and also the members of the committee who put in a huge amount of hard work to make junior badminton in Oxfordshire a success.
