Oxfordshire Players on Top Form

Oxfordshire players were in good form at the weekend collecting 7 medals.

Adam Burden continued his recent good form collecting 2 gold medals at the Hertfordshire under 15 Silver tournament in Stevenage. His first gold was in the boys doubles where he and partner Andrew Harrison (Sussex) beat fellow Oxfordshire player Ben Horseman and his partner Dillon Chong(Berks) the reigning under 13 National champions 15-11, 14-16, 18-16 in a thrilling final.

Burden’s 2nd win came in the mixed doubles where he partnered Oxfordshire’s Rebecca Norkett. There was also a bronze medal for Oxfordshire’s Jason Ou.

Across the other side of the country Matt Dunn and Maddy Cook won bronze medals in the mixed doubles at the Hereford under 17 bronze tournament.

The under 12 Shires League team should have played Devon at the weekend but their opponents conceded the match resulting in the team finishing 7th in the League and qualifying for the League finals to be held in Aylesbury on 14th April. This is an amazing achievement and only the 5th time an Oxfordshire team of any age group have qualified for a Shires League final.
