At the weekend Oxfordshire’s Ethan Rose won two medals at the National under 17 championships at the National Badminton Centre, Milton Keynes.
Rose who earlier in the year won the National under 19 singles title had opted not to compete in the singles event but won a silver medal in the mixed doubles with partner Cara Collins (Cornwall) losing 17-21, 14-21 to the number 1 seeds. He followed this up with a bronze medal in the boys doubles. Partnering Benjamin Kemp (Avon) they played the number 1 seeds in the semi finals in what was the match of the tournament eventually losing 23-25, 20-22.
Eleanor Butler won bronze in the girls doubles with partner Cara Collins. They lost their semi final to the number 1 seeds and eventual tournament winners 15-21, 13-21
Another player in good form was Clement Jin who won the boys singles title at the Worcester under 13 Bronze tournament. Jin who has already won two tournaments this year, comfortably beat Joel Joby (Middx) 21-10 in the final.
