The Oxfordshire Junior Badminton Awards 2019

Oxfordshire Badminton Association held its annual Junior Badminton Awards at Abingdon and Witney College on Saturday 8th June.

The awards celebrated the achievements of players aged 6 to 18 years old from across the county.

Numerous awards were presented including most improved player (U12, U14, U16 and U18) along with recognition for club players, coaches and volunteers. Oxfordshire’s own Julie Bradbury, former Olympian and former World No. 1 made a number of the presentations.

A particular highlight this year was the achievement of the Oxfordshire U12 team who qualified for the National Shires League Finals. Although they were not the winner this time, it was only the fifth time the county has made it to the Nationals.

As well as many junior winners, special awards for best performances in the Oxfordshire County Tournament went to Holly Craig and Adam Burden, Team Manager of the Year to David Soanes, and the Coaching Award to Dave Bolus, recognising his significant contribution to junior coaching over the years.  The Jean Kloos award went to Gary Cook for his significant contributions to junior badminton over the last year.
