Serbian/Croatian Event Summary

On Saturday 1st July 2023, Dragan Macura, one of our coaches, organised the Serbian and Croatian event for recreational tennis players. It was a fun afternoon and we were blessed with good weather and a great atmosphere.

Here is a message from Dragan:

Dear Pensford tennis club members,

Many thanks for all the members who were able to come to the tennis event on Saturday 1st July 2023.

Our mini Wimbledon event was a success where everyone was a winner and had lots of fun.

At one point we had over 50 people at the club, some playing and some just watching or eating strawberries whilst having a glass of beer or champagne. I have attached a few photos and a video so you can get a glimpse of what it looked like on the day. Luckily the weather was kind to us.

A few children came and they had fun on court 6. On the rest of the courts, we predominantly played doubles and rotated players around. Court 4 was reserved for 8 players at a time for a 30 minutes cardio sessions. πŸ₯΅

Some Pensford members who attended needed to work a bit more on their technique and stamina πŸ˜… but I am sure they will be ready for a rematch next year πŸŽΎπŸ‘πŸ». Just get in touch with our pro coaches who will take care of you πŸ€£πŸ˜…πŸ˜Š

After tennis we went to https://bonego.co.uk/ and had some traditional Balkan food. You might want to give it a try especially if you have never had it before. πŸ˜‹

I was really hoping to be able to bring at least one of the Serbian/Croatian professional tennis players. At least 1 out of 4 of them would have come if it wasn’t for their match at the Boodles exhibition tournament (Lajovic playing against Zverev), Mektic playing doubles final and winning in Eastbourne yesterday and few others who could not make it due to injuries.

I would like to thank the club committee once again for making this event possible and hope the tradition that started back in 2008 can continue for many years to come and hopefully more members could join us.

Best wishes

Dragan (the coach)
