Please keep sending in your match reports to Ruby at You Do Better - we love hearing from you!
The latest report below is from Jon Guppy our Juniors Captain and Caoimhe's Dad, thank you:
"We held our first Pershore Tennis Centre 18U Girls Singles Championship at the club on Sunday and Imogen Looker was crowned champion!
Here she is with the winners plate, which means she is current ladies AND 18U Girls Singles champion at the club.
We had just 3 entries in the competition - Immy, Caoimhe Guppy and Georgia Marrett and so we held a 'round robin' competition to decide the overall winner.
First up was Immy against Georgia on the clay.
Windy conditions made it difficult to control the ball, but Immy was able to master it the best. She never looked in danger and was the 6-2,6-2 victor.
Next up was Caoimhe against Immy on hard and again it was the experienced Looker who broke serve early in the first set then ran away with it to take it 6-1.
Wind and rain forced the girls inside to play the second set, and this allowed Guppy to fight better in the second and it was a much more even game. It was level at 4-4 until Immy broke serve, then she held hers to win 6-4 and take the title!
Caoimhe played Georgia at the end for runners up spot and came out 6-0,6-1 winner.
The most important thing was that all three enjoyed competing and there were smiles most of the way through from all three girls.
Next year we'll be looking to build on numbers so the competition can grow, and it's good to see junior membership is steadily increasing so you never know!"
Join us and join in! Well done Immy - a smashing achievement!
