NEW COURT BUILD and COVID 19 UPDATE
New Court Build Postponed
We are dure to build 2 new courts for the club. This has been postponed until the startof March 2021 due to the state of the ground.
COVID-19 Updates
The club is now open for play and social play sessions. This includes doubles with members of different families.
Please observe the following guidelines.
- Observe social distancing. Stick to the 2m separation, including when changing ends.
- Track and Trace. We may need to contact club users for track and trace purposes. If you have booked courts, we already have your details. For club sessions, we ask the co-ordinator to keep a record of those attending.
- Hygiene. Use hand sanitiser before and after play. We will try and keep supplies available.
- Clubhouse. The clubhouse is open for bar and access to toilets, first aid kit/defib unit, and the lights. One person in the house at a time please.
5. Training and Camps. Training is now back on, but with limited numbers to stay within Covid regulations.
About the Club
Welcome To PLTC
Portishead Lawn Tennis Club, founded in 1924, is a thriving club with three all weather floodlit courts located at Portishead Lake Grounds. We currently have over 300 members including a strong junior section. We are building 2 new courts in March 2021 - with the assistance of North Somerset Council, The LTA and Sport England.
The club is here to promote tennis for all in Portishead and the surrounding area. We welcome new members all year round, and non-members are welcome to some of our pay and play training courses.
The club is also keen to work with local community groups to promote tennis, and in 2020 we hope to build two new courts which will include an online pay-and-play option. For more information please email message [email protected]
Throughout the year we offer:
- Regular club nights each week
- Juniors and Adult training and fun improvers sessions
- For experienced players, we have regular play and teams entered in both the Avon Winter and Summer Leagues (we currently have a Mens Team in Avon Division 1)
- A thriving junior section with teams competing in local leagues
- A variety of tournaments and events throughout the year
- Regular social events
We have qualified coaches, Mike Greedy, and James McCall, who run one to one and group coaching for both junior and adult players throughout the year.
