Walking Tennis

TENNIS IS a game EVERYONE can play.

At Portcullis Tennis club we believe everyone can play tennis and that it can be adapted to suit players with a variety of different physical abilities.

In every form, Tennis increases activity, mental stimulation, provides exercise, improves well-
being, and offers a social outlet, which is why we run our popular Walking Tennis sessions every Monday afternoon.

Walking Tennis is a slower, simpler version of tennis played with softer balls and so is easier to grasp. It is played with less pressurised balls than the regular game which ensure a more consistent bounce.

Crucially, the addition of the Double Bounce rule, which requires each shot to be able to bounce within the court twice in order to score a point, gives you more time to get to the ball and makes the court feel smaller by reducing angles and making lobbing harder.

This means walking tennis is a great option to start to learn to play tennis or play if you feel you need a version of tennis that is less physically demanding.

At Portcullis, we play Walking Tennis on Monday Afternoons between 12.30pm and 3.30pm where a facilitator will be available from 12.30pm to meet and greet you and offer a welcome cup of tea.

You are very welcome to come along and watch to see how the game could work for you.

Additionally, lessons are available at 13.30 which are £6.00 and can be paid on the day.
