The Ladder has grown in recent times so that even in winter we have over 50 participants. We want it to grow further. We want more participants of all standards.

Currently we have 11 graded groups which means that we are able to cater for players of all standards.

All members of all standards are encouraged to enter because,

  • The ladder is suitable for all (male and female, young and "not young"). The age range over the last year has been teenage to 90+.
  • The Ladder provides all members with the opportunity to play competitive singles matches against people of a similar standard in a friendly environment.
  • The Ladder is mixed, so often there will be males and females in the same group and, as I know from hard personal experience, the females often win.

Participants are sorted into groups of 4 or 5 players. The groups are graded by standard. You play the other participants in your group over a 2 to 3 month period. For the following period, the group winner is promoted to the next group up, the bottom placed player is relegated to the next group down.

Thus, participants commit to play 3 or 4 singles matches in each period.

This is a commitment! People entering and then not playing their matches really upsets the competition and leads to disappointment and frustration for others.

Ladder matches use a tournament tie break. In the event of one set each after two sets, the third set is replaced by a first to 10 points tie break.

Players provide the balls and book their courts at a time that works for both players.

The Ladder is a great way to meet and play against other members.

Singles is a great way to develop your game.
