Name: Edd Whetton

Role: Rise Up Racket Sports Director. Coaches at all venues.

Qualification: Level 3 coach, Spanish qualification of Director de Tenis and USPTA America Elite Professional.

Profile:

With over a decade of experience in coaching, Edd is a dedicated and passionate leader in the world of racket sports. As the Director of Rise Up Racket Sports, he has been instrumental in growing and developing club programs that foster skill, inclusion, and a love of the game. Since 2013, Edd has specialised in coaching players of all ages and abilities, from toddlers as young as 2 years old to elite County and Regional-level athletes, as well as International wheelchair players and adults with learning disabilities.

Edd's coaching philosophy emphasizes accessibility, empowerment, and holistic player development, striving to create environments where every individual can thrive regardless of their background or ability. In recognition of his impact and excellence in coaching, Edd was named runner-up in the LTA National Coach of the Year Award in 2022, after winning both the County and Regional stages.

With a career built on nurturing talent and expanding opportunities in racket sports, Edd continues to inspire athletes and fellow coaches alike, helping the next generation of players achieve their potential both on and off the court.

Name: Betsy Williams

Role: Head Coach Sileby Tennis Club

Qualification: Level 2 coach

Profile: Betsy has been playing Tennis since the age of 3, and is a Ladies First Team Captain playing in Leicestershires top division. Betsy is currently studying Sport Science at NTU, while competing in the BUCS match’s for the Ladies first team.

Betsy has been part of the coaching team since 2018 and is a Level 2 coach, looking to do her level 3 after her final University year. If you would like 1:1 lessons with Betsy then call her on 07802 667229.

Name: Mytch Briars

Role: Head Coach at Kegworth Tennis Club and Wigston Tennis Club

Qualification: Level 2 coach

Profile: Mytch has been playing tennis since the age of 4. As a junior Mytch competed to a high level and still plays in a Mens First Team within a high Leicestershire Divison.

Mytch started volunteering at the age of 11 and in 2019/2020 won Hinckley and Bosworth Volunteer of The Year award. In 2021 he undertook his level one and passed it in the July of that year.

Mytch is now a level 2 coach and is pursuing his dream of tennis coaching. Mytch will be taking his level 3 qualification as soon as possible. If you would like to have 1:1 lessons with Mytch then call him on 07387864406.
