On the hottest day of the year so far, young players from across the South West put on a fine display of tennis in the LTA U12 County Cup Qualifying Event held at Royal Wootton Bassett Tennis Club.   Under the blazing sun on 29 June the boys competed hard while spectators sipped cool drinks and sought out the shade.  

By the end of Saturday, the boys from Hertfordshire were well positioned for victory.  Would they be able to sustain their quality of play into day two?   After another day of closely-fought singles and doubles matches in cooler temperatures on the Sunday it all came down to the final doubles match.   Gloucestershire versus Hertfordshire in the final, and the Gloucestershire pair came out as winners.  Congratulations to the team, who now will face opponents in the next stage of the County Cup to be held in Bolton, Lancashire. 

A fantastic weekend of tennis brought teams from Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and Hertfordshire to Royal Wootton Bassett for the LTA County Cup Qualifying Event.
