Young players shine between the showers

For competition organisers and players alike the summer is proving a challenge, as no two days consecutive days remain dry.  Despite the heavy clouds and eventual, inevitable, downpours, there was some excellent play on Sunday 26th May at Royal Wootton Bassett's courts.

Young stars from several local clubs, watched by supportive family members, had a great time playing red, orange or green ball tennis.  Each player had a number of matches, both singles and doubles, adding to the enjoyment.  Competition organiser Samantha Kingdon-Marston from Active Academy did an excellent job of managing play against the backdrop of expected rain.

The results were as follows:

8U winners: Wanborough Reds

9U winners: Devizes Orange

10U winners: RWBTC Green

These competitions are great fun for budding tennis players.  The coaching team at RWB Tennis Club run courses and tennis activities for children as young as four years to start them out in a sport that offers so much in the way of fitness, social interaction and fun.
