Success for the Singles Ladder

Under blue skies and warm sun the 2018-19 RWB Tennis Club Singles Ladder competition came to an end on 30 March with a knockout competition open to all those who took part in the ladder.    The knockout finale (pictured) was won by Richard Rees, a well deserved victory after beating the players ranked first and second in the actual ladder competition.

The knockout competition was a fitting end to what had been a six-month long campaign of singles matches over the winter.  Over 25 players, men and women, entered the ladder, with a commitment to play at least one match a month.  In the end, Tim Harris came out the winner, with Simon Lincoln a close second.  The highest placed lady was Jackie Wood, well inside the top 10.

'The inaugural ladder has proved a very popular event for the club, giving players an opportunity to play singles matches against a wide variety of opponents', said Simon Lincoln one of the organisers.  'We have managed to boost player participation over the winter months, and the fact that it was a mixed ladder really brought everyone together.
