LTA Big Tennis Weekend is coming to SANDAL Lawn Tennis Club
Don’t miss your chance to pick up a racket and play tennis at our Big Tennis Weekend on Saturday 15th July 2023 at Sandal Lawn Tennis Club (Sandal LTC).
It is all about having fun, with coaching, games, competitions, and social events, so you can guarantee a great day with friends and family. We can provide rackets and tennis balls, so anyone can come along and play. We will be putting on a free BBQ for all participants (until the food runs out!)
Tennis is for all; you don’t need to already have a playing partner before you join Sandal LTC. You can play tennis by joining in our regular social tennis sessions. You can get competitive tennis matches, played at your level by joining our software-controlled ladder league and you can sign up to coaching sessions that are appropriate for your level of play.
Sandal LTC, the premier tennis club in the Wakefield area, is one of the oldest clubs in the county, established in 1885. Boasting 6 newly refurbished all weather floodlit tennis courts, a fantastic coaching programme, and a healthy, well attended schedule of social and competitive tennis.
Participants can sign up for FREE sessions in advance such as:
LTA Youth Start sessions - LTA Youth Start is for kids aged 4-11 years who are new to tennis. We'll help teach kids new life skills, developing them as both players and people.
Adult Coaching – Try our adult coaching taster session. Ideal for people new to the sport or who haven’t picked up a racket in a long time. You can borrow our rackets if you don’t have your own, just come prepared to hit a few balls and have some fun.
Family Sessions - Get on court with your family and have some fun. We’ll provide modified balls and rackets for the younger ones and coaches will be on hand to give you some pointers if you want them.
Free Play - If you don’t fancy a coaching session why not just try out our new facilities. You can join in with any of the social tennis sessions or our fun competition.
Free Equipment Hire and no tennis experience is required.

Deuce Bar: Opens from 12pm
Social Tennis Taster Session: 12pm – 2pm
Barbecue: From 1pm
Fun Tournament: 4pm - 6pm

There will be special offers available for Summer Tennis Camps for children 4 – 12 years available on the day.
This event is part of a national Big Tennis Weekend campaign promoted the LTA taking place all over the country encouraging thousands of people head to their local tennis courts for free.
