The club started in the 1970s, when the owner of the Old Hall at Shadwell offered a few people the chance to play tennis on an existing court in their garden. Eventually, a formal club was established and the land was purchased. Adjacent land was acquired and a second court was built, followed by a club house. The club thrived and many people have benefitted from this local facility, made possible by the founding spirit of those early enthusiasts.
