Despite a chilly/overcast morning, the LTA Grade 5 9U tournament held by Shinfield Tennis Club on Sunday 11th January was a great success. The tournament saw 10 players, 6 boys and 4 girls compete is a round robin qualifying event, followed by the elimination semi-final and final matches. This format enabled all players to compete in atleast 5 matches. It was great to watch some very competitive tennis being played, for some it was their 1st time playing a LTA Grade 5 orange ball 9U match.
At the end of the tournament the overall winner was Stanislaw Machnik with the runner up being Esmee Rose Lastun. Well done to all players who took part. The feedback from both players and parents, was that it was a very freindly, well run, fun event and all wanted to know when the next such event will take place, as they would like to get involved.
Big thanks to Tina, Zara, Courtney, Alejandro and Laura for stepping in to be court supervisors. Special thanks to Caroline our Berkshire LTA Junior competion co-ordiantor who came along to support.
Competition Organiser and LTA Referee for the day was Tony Williams.
