Shrewsbury Lawn Tennis Club

Shrewsbury Lawn is a friendly and welcoming Tennis Club, set on the edge of the Quarry Park alongside the River Severn. With around 500 members, SLTC boasts six manicured grass courts and five recently resurfaced, floodlit hard courts. Our clubhouse, equipped with shower and changing facilities, as well as a bar and kitchen, makes a very pleasant hub for social events and club meetings.  

We are a diverse club with a wide variety of members. All age groups and levels of ability are welcome to join. We offer social tennis, competitive league matches, and lessons from our professional club coaches.

The club is affiliated to the Lawn Tennis Association and managed by a committee under the leadership of Club Chair, Jeremy Johnston.  We are always looking for additional volunteers to help with club sessions and events.

All members are asked to abide by our guidance on court etiquette.

We were very proud to win the  Shropshire LTA - Club of the Year 2023 award, presented to us by Tennis Shropshire. We were nominated for the award again in 2024.

In 2024, our top teams had great success in the Summer Leagues. After playing matches all over the county, our ladies first team were champions of the Premier Division, while our second team gained promotion to the First Division. Our mens first team, meanwhile, was promoted to the Premier League.

In the Autumn Mixed Doubles Leagues, we did even better. Our First Team team retained their position at the top of Division 1, while our teams in Divisions 2, 4, 5, and 6 all gained promotion to the next division up.
