Petra Kvitova secured a 7-6 (14) 6-2 triumph in the women's final of the Miami Open which ensured she will return to the top 10 of the world rankings. Kvitova was last in the top 10 in September 2021, and she proved she was worthy of the status by seeing off a player currently sitting 7th on the list. The loss ended Indian Wells champion Rybakina's bid for the 'Sunshine Double' and snapped the reigning Wimbledon champion's winning run.
Daniil Medvedev continued his sensational form to claim his first Miami Open title, beating Jannik Sinner in straight sets, 7-5 6-3. The Miami Open marked his fifth ATP Tour final in as many tournaments, with Medvedev bouncing back from the Indian Wells final defeat two weeks ago against Carlos Alcaraz. This time, the world No 5 was dominant against Sinner, who was frustrated by Medvedev's deep baseline game. Sinner was struggling with an injury after his breath taking semi-final beating Carlos Alcaraz. Medvedev is now 24-1 in the past five events and is 6-0 against Sinner.
Now starts the beginning of the clay season, with the next Master 1000 title being played at Monte Carlo, Monaco, with Novak Djokovic set to be playing there and a number of clay tournaments before the French Open.
