Coaching

First Saturday Lesson Back!

It was brilliant seeing all our players and parents on Saturday. We’re happy to have you all back playing tennis with a smile on your faces.

We were working on volleying with our red and orange players. We progressed this with our green and yellows by starting deep on the court, aiming to finish the point at the net. All our players did a brilliant job and Coach Jack, and Coach Yoli were impressed with the enthusiasm each player brought onto the court in the cold weather!

One of our goals this year is to get our players playing competitively from red ballers all the way to our yellow ball juniors. We are going to do this by reintroducing our LTA tennis cards. We used these cards before covid and players from each group found success with realistic goals to achieve. For example, one of the goals for our red ballers will be to hit 5 serves over the net and in the red court. Once this has been achieved the player will move to 10 serves, then 15 serves, then once 20 serves have been achieved that player has completed the serves’ goal. Once a player has completed all their goals the coaches can move them up to the next group.

These goals will help our players become more competitive and give them something to aim for. Ultimately tennis is an individual sport and at times a harsh sport with a very small margin for error. These tennis cards will help our players to stay focused to achieve their individual goals.

With our junior yellow ballers, we are going to try and place them in a league competing against other clubs and academies. We believe our junior players will compete well and we will work hard on tactics within singles and doubles.

Good session from everyone on Saturday and let’s get cracking on with our goals over the coming weeks and months!

We are trying to grow our socials. A follow and a share to friends and family interested in tennis would be greatly appreciated.
