Club History
Woore Tennis Club was established in 1983 and for 30 years operated from a single, leased court situated in the grounds of Woore Manor House. However, in August 2013 the property was sold, the Club found itself without a home and worried about its continued existence.
Thanks to the generosity of long-time members, a private court in a nearby village became the Club’s temporary home for over a year, providing essential breathing space to consider the Club’s future and seek an alternative site.
By October 2015 the Club owned just over an acre of land and members were playing on two all-weather, floodlit tennis courts. In February 2017, the Club held its first AGM on site in the new Clubhouse, converted from an old stable block.
Determination, hard work and truly fantastic support from members, the local community, Sport England and the LTA have combined to create an amazing facility in the heart of Woore. Membership numbers have grown substantially and we continue to be excited about all that the Club has to offer not only for existing members, but also for the residents of Woore and the surrounding community.
Woore Tennis Club was originally created to encourage youngsters to play tennis. We are determined to continue and extend this tradition, by providing a great facility for local schools and offering children an opportunity to take up a lifelong sport.
