Derek May - Chairperson

Derek joined the Board in December 2025. He has a wealth of commercial experience in the international energy industry, ranging from running businesses to being responsible for developing business unit plans and corporate strategies. More latterly he has combined non-executive roles with advising and supporting community-based sports groups on governance, recruitment, planning and fund raising. He is a keen tennis and padel player.
Adrian Gough

Adrian was appointed Trustee & Director in September 2024 having been the Tennis Centre’s accountant since 2017. An experienced management accountant and business consultant, Adrian is vastly experienced in the corporate world, having been Finance Director for a multi-million turnover company, Area Manager for a multi branch finance & retail operation, with experience in management of teams of over 30 employees. Having been self-employed for over 10 years Adrian has benefitted from being involved in several industries including Leisure, IT, Financial Services, Construction & Farming, working closely with Business Owners, Directors and key stakeholders.
Mathew James

Born in Wrexham and spent several years training at Wrexham Tennis and Padel Centre, Mathew is now a Level 5 Performance coach with over 15 years of experience ranging from grassroots to Grand Slam champions. Mathew brings an extensive tennis network to the board having spent time working with or within many of the British tennis structures such as Schools/University, Tennis Wales and the LTA. Mathew is particularly interested in helping push the programme forward and support the coaching team and is eager to help Wrexham Tennis & Padel Centre achieve its goals.
Mark Harris

Mark was appointed Trustee and Director in May 2025. Originally from Dolgellau, Mark has lived in Wrexham for the last 12 years and has been a frequent user of the Tennis Centre. As a practicing lawyer with over 20 years M&A, Corporate and commercial experience, Mark has worked in both private practice, for top 50 law firms and in-house, for financial services organisations. Before qualifying as a lawyer, Mark served in the Royal Navy for several years prior to attending University to study a BSc (Hons) in Leisure Resource Management and a M.A. in Business Law.
Lisa Isaac

Lisa was appointed Trustee in September 2025 having recently returned to Wrexham. With extensive career experience across private, public and not-for-profit sectors, Lisa consults on organisational and systems transformations for both SMEs and large corporate clients, and looks forward to supporting the Wrexham Tennis & Padel Centre in its next existing phases of development.
Lindsay Thomas
Lindsay Thomas joined the Board in October 2025 and brings a wealth of experience from both the charitable and grant-making sectors. Her career spans leadership and income generation roles within UK charities such as Groundwork North Wales and UK Youth, alongside strategic and leadership positions with major grant-making bodies, including The National Lottery Community Fund.
In addition to her professional work, Lindsay has contributed extensively in a voluntary capacity. She has served on the BBC Children in Need London and South East Committee and held trustee roles with youth-led and homelessness charities, demonstrating a long-standing commitment to addressing social impact and community empowerment.
